Two more COVID deaths from Reg. 4; 53 new infections

Two more persons have died from the dreaded COVID-19, taking the overall number of deaths since March 2020 to 499.

The latest fatalities, as reported by the Health Ministry, are a 50-year-old woman and 79-year-old man, both from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica), who died while receiving care at a medical facility on July 12.

With these new deaths, 23 deaths have already been recorded in the month of July, so far. Meanwhile, another 53 infections were recorded over a 24-hour period after 1,505 tests were conducted. In total, 21,055 cases have been recorded since March last year.

The new cases were recorded from: Region One (three cases), Region Two (one case), Region Three (11 cases), Region Four (12 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (22 cases) and Region Nine (one case).

There are also 10 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 77 people in institutional isolation and 1,209 are in home isolation. And, 19,206 people who were previously infected with COVID-19, have now recovered.
