Two sisters, 24-year-old Shantell Evans and 19-year-old Timhara Evans, were on Friday remanded to prison after over 500 grams of marijuana were found at their Albouystown, Georgetown apartment.
On Wednesday last, ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) carried out a search on the two-storey apartment building located at lot 169 James Street, Albouystown.
CANU in a statement, which was released after the women were charged, said that during the search two black plastic bags containing ganja and weighing 518.07 grams along with a small scale were discovered.
The two women were the only occupants at home; they were arrested and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Leron Daly on Friday where they entered a not guilty plea.
Bail was refused and they were remanded to prison until August 20, 2021.
