A raid conducted at a Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown house on Friday morning resulted in two persons being arrested after police found a Brazilian made gun at the premises.
Police Headquarters said in a statement that between 06:30 hrs and 08:25 hrs, an Inspector, a Detective Sergeant, a Corporal and eight other ranks went to the Lot 35 Castello Housing Scheme house where a search was conducted on the business premises for narcotics, guns, ammunition and stolen items.
Attached to the business is a living quarter where a 44-year-old businesswoman and a 40-year-old male shopkeeper reside.
A female rank conducted a search on the businesswoman, who at the time, was wrapped in a towel. During the search a Taurus .32 Revolver bearing serial # QL42412 made in Brazil was found. There were two live .32 ammunition in the firearm.
The businesswoman and the shopkeeper were told of the offence, arrested and escorted to Police Headquarters at Eve Leary, Georgetown. They remain in police custody assisting with the investigation.
