A 49-year-old fisherman identified as Chatram Singh was found dead in his Block 12 Non-Pareil, East Coast Demerara apartment on Thursday and his family has since indicated that it was suicide.
Police Headquarters revealed that the man’s son found him motionless in the apartment at around 17:50hrs; a report was made to the Vigilance Police Station.
“Enquiries disclosed that the deceased was having domestic problems and would usually drink from time to time,” the police report noted.
It is further alleged that relatives saw him imbibing just a few hours before his body was discovered. Police said no marks of violence were observed on the body.
The body is at the Jerrick’s Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.
