Injured man left lying on roadside dies

A 48-year-old man, Amrow Liverpool of Haslington on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) succumbed to injuries inflicted on him after he was left lying on the Haslington Public Road.

According to a police report, officers at the Cove and John Police Station, ECD, received an anonymous call at around 05:00 hrs on Thursday that a man was lying on the southern side of the public road.

When officers visited the area, it was observed that the man lying on the parapet had apparent injuries to his head. Police said that the man was also crying for pains he alleged were as a result of a “lash” he received from someone.

Liverpool was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was admitted for treatment but subsequently, succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy was conducted on Friday by government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh in the presence of a relative of Liverpool and the police. It was reported that Dr Singh gave the cause of the death as multiple injuries due to a motor vehicular accident.

His body was handed over to his family for funeral arrangements. It is unclear whether a police investigation is ongoing.
