    The Ministry of Health has reported that a 74-year-old woman from Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice) is the latest COVID-19 death, in addition to the death of the 16-year-old previously reported by the News Room.

    On Saturday, the Health Ministry said that the 16-year-old boy is from Region Nine (Upper Takutu- Upper Essequibo). Both the boy and the woman were reportedly receiving care at a medical institution when they succumbed.

    With the new death, 32 deaths have already been recorded in the month of July so far while there is now a total of 509 COVID-19 deaths since March 2020.

    Meanwhile, another 120 infections were recorded over a 24-hour period after 1,199 tests were conducted. In total, 21,471 cases have been recorded since March last year.

    The new cases were recorded from: Region One (two cases), Region Two (three cases), Region Three (five cases), Region Four (34 cases), Region Five (seven cases), Region Six (six cases), Region Seven (two cases), Region Nine (54 cases) and Region 10 (seven cases).

    There are also 1,162 active cases. These include 12 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 95 people in institutional isolation, 1,050 are in home isolation and five people are in institutional quarantine.

    And, 140 people who were previously infected with COVID-19, have now recovered.
