Three more die from COVID, 91 new cases recorded

The Ministry of Health has reported that another three people have died after they were infected with SARS- CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease, COVID-19.

The latest fatalities as reported by the Ministry of Health are:

  1. A 65-year-old man from Region Five (Mahaica- Berbice), who died on July 15
  2. A 41-year-old woman from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) who died on July 16
  3. An 82-year-old man from Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) who died on July 17

With the new deaths, 35 deaths have already been recorded in the month of July, so far. In total, there have been 512 COVID-19 deaths since March 2020.

Meanwhile, another 91 infections were recorded over a 24-hour period after 1,227 tests were conducted. In total, 21,562 cases have been recorded since March last year.

The new cases were recorded from: Region Three (three cases), Region Four (29 cases), Region Five (seven cases), Region Six (19 cases), Region Nine (31 cases) and Region 10 (two cases).

There are also 1,217 active cases. These include 13 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 98 people in institutional isolation, 1,105 are in home isolation and one person in institutional quarantine.

And, 29 people who were previously infected with COVID-19, have now recovered.
