Young Berbice teacher dies in accident
Traffic ranks on the West Coast Berbice are investigating an accident which resulted in the death of, Nathaniel Ledra, a 20-year-old teacher from Black Bush Polder.
The News Room understands that Ledra was riding motorcycle CK 370 on the Number 3 Public Road when he collided with motor jeep PTT 5255 that is attached to the Ministry of Finance at around 15:45hrs.
According to a police report, Ledra was riding behind the government vehicle when the driver made a sudden U-turn; Ledra swerved to avoid a collision but he ended up crashing into the front side portion of the jeep.
As a result, he fell off the motorcycle and sustained severe injuries; he was picked up in an unconscious condition by public spirited persons and rushed to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the government vehicle tested negative for alcohol on his breath. Ledra was a teacher attached to the Black Bush Secondary school.
