The Ministry of Health has reported that a 70-year-old woman from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) died after she was infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease, COVID-19.
With this newly reported death, 36 deaths have already been recorded in the month of July. In total, there have been 513 COVID-19 deaths since March, 2020.
Meanwhile, another 44 infections were recorded over a 24-hour period after 378 tests were conducted. In total, 21,606 cases have been recorded since March last year.
The new cases were recorded from: Region One (one case), Region Two (three cases), Region Three (three cases), Region Four (16 cases), Region Five (two cases), Region Six (17 cases) and Region 10 (two cases).
There are also 1,232 active cases. These include 12 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 107 people in institutional isolation, 1,111 are in home isolation and two people in institutional quarantine.
And, 29 people who were previously infected with COVID-19, have now recovered.
