Bandits beat employees, rob Vreed-en-Hoop gas station

Two masked men, armed handguns, are being sought by the police following a robbery at the Sir Gas Station located on New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

According to a statement from Police Headquarters, the incident occurred around 21:45 hrs on Monday night.

The gas station was reportedly closed and the supervisor was about to exit the premises when the two suspects, both clad in black masks, ran into the gas station and held her at gunpoint.

The armed perpetrator then discharged a round into the air, ran to the security guard on duty, and assaulted him.

The other suspect forced the female supervisor back into the office and demanded that she hand over the keys to the drawer which had an undisclosed amount of cash that he carted off.

The suspect then proceeded to the back of the gas station where he met with another employee and lashed him to the right side of the head with his weapon causing him to receive injuries.

The bandits escaped in a white car which was waiting a short distance away.

The security guard and the other employee were both escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where they were treated and sent away.
