Intoxicated Berbice man stabbed

A 25-year-old man of Murphy Dam, West Bank Berbice is nursing serious injuries at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital following a stabbing incident on Monday night.

Police identified the injured man as Mahindra Singh.

His wife reportedly told police investigators that around 21:30 hrs she was involved in an argument with her sister about taking Singh home to sleep because he was highly intoxicated and was reportedly being a nuisance.

She further alleged that while taking her husband away, a male, who the police did not identify, came up to them and stabbed Singh to his right side chest with a glass bottle.

The man was taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty.

He was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he is presently receiving treatment. His condition is listed as serious. Checks were made for the suspect but he was not located.
