Man, 63, robbed despite efforts to fight off four bandits

Despite his efforts to fight off four bandits, two armed with handguns, a 63-year-old man is now counting his losses.

Police said the robbery occurred around 06:10 hrs Tuesday along Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown. The man was relieved of $4,500 cash, one white Samsung tablet valued at $45,000, a Blu cellphone valued at $25,000, and several documents.

Police Headquarters stated that the victim was heading home when he was attacked by the perpetrators, riding two blue motorcycles. Both pillion riders dismounted their respective motorcycles and held the victim at gunpoint but he resisted.

Police said one of the perpetrators lashed the victim to his face with a gun and discharged a shot in the air, causing the victim to received minor injuries.
