Three West Indies players are nursing injuries as the Caribbean side take on Australia in three day/night ODIs, the first of which started on Tuesday at 14:30h at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Cricket West Indies, moments before the game, reported that wicketkeeper/batsman Shai Hope and all-rounders Fabian Allen and Roston Chase will miss the opening match because of injuries.

Hope, West Indies best ODI batsman, picked up an ankle injury in training on the eve of the game, while Allen has not recovered from a side injury he sustained during the T20 series against Australia, and Chase is still going through rehab protocol from an injury sustained during the West Indies Test series against South Africa in June.

    Squads for the first ODI

West Indies XI: Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Darren Bravo, Jason Mohammed, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Kieron Pollard (capt), Jason Holder, Hayden Walsh Jr, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein, Sheldon Cottrell.

Australia XI: Ben McDermott, Josh Philippe, Mitchell Marsh, Moises Henriques, Alex Carey (capt), Ashton Turner, Matthew Wade (wk), Mitchell Starc, Wes Agar, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.
