The Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported that an 88-year-old male from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica) died from COVID-19 while receiving treatment at a medical facility.
This means that 38 deaths have already been recorded in the month of July. In total, there have been 515 COVID-19 deaths since March 2020.
Meanwhile, another 65 infections were recorded over a 24-hour period after 1,144 tests were conducted. In total, 21, 733 cases have been recorded since March last year.
The new cases were recorded in: Region Two (one case), Region Three (10 cases), Region Four (33 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (two cases) Region Seven (two cases) and Region 10 (12 cases).
There are also 15 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 101 people are in institutional isolation; 1,093 are in home isolation and three people are in institutional quarantine.
And, in total, 20, 009 people who were previously infected with COVID-19, have now recovered.
