Man killed by his own knife during scuffle with mother of his children
Police are investigating a fatal stabbing incident involving a 28-year-old woman and the father of her three children at Providence, East Bank Demerara, on Sunday.
Police identified the dead man as Anthony Pakanram called ‘Max’.
A statement from Police Headquarters noted that Max and the woman were in a common-law relationship with three (3) children together. The deceased had a history of violence towards the suspect, police said.
On Saturday, the woman and Max had a misunderstanding, which caused him to physically assault the woman, who subsequently moved out of their shared home to go live at her parents’ home at Old Road, Providence.
On Sunday at about 15:30h, Max went to the house and an argument ensued.
He became angry and armed himself with a knife. Despite the woman trying to flee, Max cornered her and a scuffle ensued.
During the scuffle, the suspect said she heard the victim groan and saw him bleeding from the neck. As they parted, he walked a short distance and collapsed.
He was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre by family members where he died while receiving medical care.
The body is presently at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.
