Tokyo Olympics: Guyanese Archibald through to Round One of Men’s 100m

Guyanese sprinter Emanuel Archibald has made it through to Round One of the Men’s 100m at the Tokyo Olympic Games after a sublime run in the Preliminary Round on Friday evening at the Olympic Stadium, Japan.

Competing in Heat Two, Archibald finished second with a time of 10.30s, only behind Barakat Al Harthi of Oman, who clocked a Season Best 10.27s.

Mohamed Alhammadi of the United Arab Emirates and Ratu Banuve Tabakaucoro of Fiji were the other qualifiers from the Heat with both timed at 10.59s.

Archibald, Guyana’s national 100m champion, will compete in Heat Two of Round One on Saturday morning (July 31) at approximately 06:45h.
