A 66-year-old man is now missing after he reportedly left the Emergency Room at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Tuesday last.

Shirlall Budhai of Wakenaam, Essequibo Islands, was last seen wearing a faded purple shirt and grey pants.

His son, Denesh Shirlall, told the News Room that he was informed that his father was sick and he traveled to Wakenaam and took him to his Providence, East Bank Demerara home on Sunday.

Denesh said his father complained of feeling dizzy but refused to go to the hospital but he took him there nevertheless.

While at the hospital, Denesh said doctors asked for a head CT scan to be done among other tests.

But due to COVID-19 measures at the hospital, which does not allow anyone but patients in the Emergency Room, Denesh said he left his father inside but kept checking on him.

He said he last saw his father sitting on a chair inside the Emergency Room and after about half an hour when he went back to check on him, his father was not there.

Denesh explained that when he enquired about his whereabouts, he was told that his father had left.

After frantically searching in and around the hospital compound, a report was made at the police outpost at the hospital.

Since then, Denesh said he continues to search for his father in and around Georgetown, the Palms Geriatric Home and homeless shelters, but so far no one has seen him.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Shirlall Budhai, kindly contact his son on 629 1269.
