A Linden man identified as Stephen Wayne Major, 23, is now dead after a trip to the popular hangout and swim spot “Buck Town.”

Major, who lived at Self Help Scheme, Amelia’s Ward, Linden, went to swim and hangout with his friends at around 13:00 hrs on Sunday.

While there, Police said they consumed alcohol and then went into the water. Major reportedly moved to the Koker area and to his friends it appeared he was doing stunts in the water by throwing himself in the water and coming back up.

But at one point, he went under and after about two minutes, he resurfaced a short distance away from the koker front.

A man who was at the creek attempted to rescue Major but failed due to the strong water current.

Five other men retrieved Major from the water and took him to shore in an unconscious state.
CPR was conducted on Major but he failed to regain consciousness.

He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police were informed and visited the Hospital where the body was examined by detectives for marks of violence but none were seen.

The body is presently awaiting a post mortem examination.
