    A Policeman and a person he was carrying on his motorcycle have died after crashing into a motorcar at Airy Hal on the Essequibo Coast.

    Dead are Policeman Romesh Das, 23, and Abdool Shamain, 22. Both lived in Anna Regina Housing Scheme. Shamain recently married and with a young child.

    Police said that a motorcar, driven by Mahindra Raj, was proceeding south on the eastern driving lane when the motorcycle Das and Shamain were on swerved and collided with it.

     

    The motorcycle the duo was travelling on.

     

    Das and Shamain were picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

     

    The vehicle the duo crashed into.

     

    A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted soonest.

    The driver of the motorcar remains in custody, assisting with the developing investigation.
