Reg. 4 woman dies from COVID, 22 new infections

A 30-year-old woman of Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) who tested positive for COVID-19 has died, the Ministry of Health reported in a statement on Monday. This takes the country’s death toll from the virus to 547.

She is the first death for the month of August.

She died on August 1, 2021.

Meanwhile, 22 new infections were recorded from a total of 813 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 22,619.

The new cases were recorded in: Region One (two cases); Region Three (five cases); Region Four (12 cases); Region Six (one case); and Region Nine (two cases).

There are also 12 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 90 people are in institutional isolation; 749 are in home isolation and two patients are housed in institutional quarantine.

To date, 21,221 people, who were previously infected with COVID-19, have recovered.
