A man who was recently released from prison after serving five years for larceny was on Wednesday remanded to prison on two armed robbery charges by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Orin Favourite called ‘Solo’ of Rosemary Lane, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the two armed robbery charges; he was remanded to prison until August 18.

Particulars of the first charge alleged that on July 30, at Hadfield Street, Favourite while being in the company of another and armed with a gun robbed Mishal Juman of an iPhone 11 pro valued at $200,000.  It is further alleged that Favourite robbed Chandroutie Juman of a cell phone, handbag along with local and foreign currency amounting to $405,250.

According to reports on the day in question, the victims were about to enter a motor car, a motorcar which was parked on the Southern side of Hadfield Street when they were confronted by Favourite and another male, who was armed with a gun.

The men made good of their escape and the victims reported the matter to the police station.  Based on information received, Favourite was arrested and positively identified by the victims.

Favourite, who is no stranger to the court, was in 2017 sentenced to five years imprisonment for snatching a woman’s gold chain.
