Three-year-old Gulanio Cunningham of Matthew’s Ridge, Region One, received injuries to the head and body after a motorcycle, CK 947 collided with him on Thursday.
The motorcycle was being driven by 20-year-old Cleveland Poliah, also of Matthew’s Ridge.
Police said the accident occurred at about 16:00h on the Hole Public Road in Matthew’s Ridge.
According to reports, Poliah said he was climbing a hill along the Hole Public Road at about 40-50kmph when he saw the 3-year-old crossing the road.
Poliah alleged that he applied brakes to avoid a collision, but failed and ended up crashing into the child.
The child was picked up in a conscious state and taken to the Pakera District Hospital where he was admitted.
Police said a notice of Intended Prosecution was served to Poliah.
