The Rotary Club of Georgetown has handed over a total of 28 Tablets to Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud in support of the Women’s Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN) Programme offered by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

“The Rotary Club is pleased to advance its cause of improving access to basic education and literacy by supporting the national effort to empower and educate women and girls in our country,” the Club said in a release.

“The club understands that this programme is geared at providing training in technical and vocational education, which is geared at enhancing their opportunities for employment and development of micro-enterprises.”

The donation was made possible through a collaboration with ECI Limited, E&A Consultants, P&P Insurance Brokers and the Rotary Club of Georgetown.

“The club would like to thank all of its members and sponsors for their continued support,” the Club concluded.

The donation of Tablets is expected to boost the nationwide programme

WIIN, a brainchild of Minister Persaud, is available both online and in-person across the country and seeks to provide women and girls with economic benefits, along with an enabling environment to help them boost their self-confidence and individuality.

Whether persons are interested in garment construction, ICT, graphic designing, video editing, photography, interior decorating, or child and elderly care; the ministry is moving to cater for major development in the country.

WIIN also includes the provision of functional, business, social issues, and legislative literacy, and covers areas in anger management, emotional intelligence, coping mechanisms, as well as information on support systems from the ministry.

Each course is followed by an assessment, and the top five students will be eligible for assistance to start up their businesses.
