Three additional COVID deaths, 17 persons in ICU

Guyana recorded three COVID-19 related deaths over the last 24 hours.

The latest fatalities are an 83-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man – both from Region Four (Demerara Mahaica). They died on August 06, 2021.

The third person, a 68-year-old man, also from Region Four died on August 07, 2021.

With these deaths, the country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 559; it means that for the month of August so far, 13 people have died.

The Ministry of Health in a statement revealed that the patients died while receiving medical care at a facility.

Meanwhile, 50 new infections were recorded from 683 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases since March, 2020, to 22,982.

There are 17 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 86 patients are in institutional isolation, 728 are isolated at home and three persons are in institutional quarantine.

To date, 21,595 persons have recovered from the dreaded virus.
