Driver flees after crashing into pedestrian at Affiance, Essequibo Coast

A pedestrian has been left with fractured legs after he was crashed into by a speeding hire car at Affiance, Essequibo Coast late Monday night.

Pedestrian Darwin Nath, 33, was hit by a motor car with licensed plate number HB 6305. The driver fled the scene.

Police said Nath was standing on the eastern side of the road when he said the speeding vehicle made a sudden turn into him and hit him on both of his legs. The pedestrian said the impact caused him to land on a nearby fence.

Public-spirted persons took Nath to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was admitted but was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further treatment.

The driver is still on the run.
