See below the full statement issued by the Region Three Chamber of Commerce and Industry:
The Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) Chambers of Commerce and Industry (R3CCI) welcomes Guyana’s ‘Economic Vaccine’ announced by President Irfaan Ali to reduce the freight charges to the pre-pandemic levels (March 31, 2020) in the calculation of customs duties, excise taxes and input VAT on goods imported. These measures will not only help lessen the economic burdens on the general public but also stimulate consumptions and help local businesses to recover.
R3CCI endorses the Government’s approach in stabilising the economy and relieving people’s burden and encourages the government to continue to play take an active role as a catalyst and enabler in driving economic development, introducing more tax measures to help businesses and citizens in navigating through the pandemic. We are pleased with this initiative and the Government’s efforts in supporting sustainable and diversified economic development of Guyana.
