    Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 567 Wednesday after the Health Ministry released information on the deaths of three persons. Two woman – 83 and 82 – from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) and a 74-year-old man from Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice) died between August 09 and 10.

    Their deaths also mean that for the month of August, 21 people died from the dreaded virus.

    Meanwhile, 86 new infections were recorded from a total of 1, 580 tests. This pushes the overall number of confirmed infections to 23, 156. The new cases were recorded in; Region One (three new cases), Region Two (two cases), Region Three (16 cases), Region Four (49 cases), Region Five (one new case), Region Six (three new cases), Region Seven (one new case), Region Nine (five new cases) and Region Ten (one new case).

    Fourteen patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 86 are in institutional isolation and 690 are in home isolation.
