Olympian Keevin Allicock will lead a Guyana team of three boxers and a coach to the American Boxing Confederation (AMBC) Elite Championship in Colombia from September 25 to October 4, 2021.
The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon by president of the Guyana Boxing Association, Steve Ninvalle.
Allicock, who recently competed in the Tokyo Olympic Games, will compete in the Featherweight division, while Colin Lewis will box in Light Welterweight and Desmond Amsterdam in the Middleweight category.
Long-serving coach Terrence Poole, MS, will accompany the trio, Ninvalle indicated.
“The Elite Championship gives us another chance to not only expose our boxers, two of whom have not fought since 2019 when it was the Caribbean Championship, but it also gives us a chance to gauge where we are within Latin America and the Americas,” Ninvalle said.
“So this is a very important championship for us. Guyana has been at most of the AMBC championships in the past and this year would be no different.”
