    Another woman, aged 75, from Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice) has died after she tested positive for the novel coronavirus. With her death, Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 570.

    According to a press release from the Ministry of Health, the woman died while receiving care at a medical facility. So far, 24 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in August, thus far.

    Meanwhile, 100 new infections were recorded over a 24-hour period, pushing the overall number of confirmed infections to 23,344.

    The new cases were recorded in Region One (two new cases), Region Two (three case), Region Three (15 cases), Region Four (65 cases), Region Five (two cases), Region Six (seven cases), Region Nine (four cases) and Region Ten (three cases).

    Fourteen patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital while 86 are in institutional isolation. A total of 761 are in home isolation and five in institutional quarantine.
