Shazin Hussain, 42, a pedal cyclist of Enterprise Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was Monday killed after he collided with motorcar PXX 5404.
Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 17:00h Monday along the Melanie Damishana Public Road, ECD. According to the report, the driver of the car, Ramzan Mohamed alleged that he was proceeding west along the road when Hussain rode across the road and into his path.
As a result, Hussain collided with the car and fell onto the road surface.
“The 42 year-old man was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead,” Police reported.
A breathalyzer test was also done on the driver and no trace of alcohol was detected.
Investigations are ongoing.
