Speeding driver dies in West Bank accident

A 61-year-old motorcar driver was killed after he crashed into a motor lorry while attempting to overtake another vehicle.

Dead is Tribohan Sobah of Belle West Housing Scheme Canal No. 2, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

Police reported that the accident occurred along the Stanleytown Access Road, WBD at about 06:30h on Tuesday.

The driver of the motor lorry, Kelvin Pilgrim, 43, of Parika, East Bank Essequibo, was proceeding west along the southern side of the road.

Police said Sobah was speeding in the opposite direction and attempted to overtake another car and ended up crashing into the right side front of the lorry.

As a result, Sobah received injuries about his body and face and was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
