A 48-year-old chainsaw operator of Nottinghamshire, Upper Demerara River, was on Tuesday killed after a tree fell on him.

Police said that the deceased, Winston Meredith, was employed by a businesswoman, Samantha Brown, of Old England, Upper Demerara River, as a chainsaw operator.

At the time of the incident, he was working at Brown’s concession with three other workers; it was reported that a tree nearby entangled with the tree he was cutting and fell, hitting him to the forehead.

The chainsaw operator fell to the ground and became unconscious, with the tree pinning him to the ground.

The other workers went to his assistance and they managed to pull his motionless body from under the said tree.

Police observed that the left eye was discoloured and there was a wound to the left side of his forehead, while blood was oozing from his nostrils and mouth.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Linden Hospital Complex. The body is at G. Jetsco Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.
