A 36-year-old man was on Tuesday taken into police custody after being busted with a quantity of cannabis at a police roadblock.
According to reports, the police, acting on information, set up a road black at La Grange Public Road, West Bank Demerara, at around 12:30hrs and intercepted the suspect who was travelling in a minibus.
The suspect was observed with a red bulky haversack in his hand and claimed ownership of it.
A search was carried out and a bulky plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems was found.
After being told of the offence, the suspect replied, “Sir, is a lil weed me get in deh”.
He was then arrested and taken to the La Grange Police Station where the narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 234 grams.
Charges are expected to be laid soon.
