Woman busted with cannabis, cash from sales

A 49-year-old woman was arrested after a search conducted on her Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara, home uncovered a quantity of cannabis, and cash suspected to be the proceeds from her sales.
Police said on Tuesday, at around 10:20hrs, they ventured to the woman’s home where a search was conducted in her presence.
The sum of $54,730 was first discovered, and a further search uncovered a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems.
She was immediately told of the offence, cautioned, arrested and escorted to La Grange Police Station where the narcotic was weighed in her presence and amounted to 459 grams.
When further pressed, the woman claimed someone gave it to her.
She remains in police custody as investigations continue.
