Police are on the hunt for the driver of PLL 724, who crashed into a minibus on the Rupert Craig Highway, Greater Georgetown, and then fled the scene.

The accident occurred on Thursday at around 04:45hrs on the Highway, between Conversation Tree Road and Bel Air Access Road.

Police said the minibus, being driven by 62-year-old Lalman Rajcoomar of Kersaint Park, La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara, was proceeding west along the Rupert Craig Highway.

He told police that he felt an impact on the rear of his minibus, resulting in it spinning several times.

Rajcoomar also told police that after the crash, the driver of the motorcar exited the vehicle and ran off.

A passenger in the minibus, 48-year-old Kemela Chinapin, who was seated in the front seat, was thrown through the front windshield as a result of the crash.

She was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where she remains a patient. The motorcar involved in the crash has been lodged at the Kitty Police Station.

    Investigations are continuing.
