West Coast Berbice man stabbed, beaten to death


Police have launched a search for a male suspect, who reportedly beat and stabbed a West Coast Berbice (WCB) man to death. The incident occurred on Thursday at around 14:30hrs.

The dead man was identified as 48-year-old Feroze Khan of Carriage Road, Rosignol, WCB.

According to the police report, Khan was at a grocery shop at Bennet Dam when the suspect entered, purchased a bottle of water and subsequently left.

He reportedly then picked up a piece of wood, ran towards Khan who was walking in the street and dealt him several lashes about the body.

An eyewitness told police that Khan fell to the ground and the suspect then whipped out a knife from his pants and dealt the victim a stab before fleeing the scene.

The police were then summoned on the scene. Khan was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His body remains at the Bailey’s Funeral Parlour awaiting a post mortem examination.
