Another three die from COVID-19; 111 new cases

Guyana has recorded three additional COVID-19 deaths, taking the death toll to 591 with 44 of those deaths recorded during this month.

The latest fatalities according to the Ministry of Health are:

  1. An 89-year-old woman from Region One (Barima-Waini), who died on August 18
  2. A 74-year-old man from Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), who died on August 18
  3. An 80-year-old man from Region 10, who died on June 8.

Meanwhile, 111 new infections were recorded from 1,271 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases since March 2020, to 24,047.

The new infections were recorded in: Region One (three new cases), Region Two (five cases), Region Three (21 cases), Region Four (48 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (four cases), Region Nine (23 cases) and Region 10 (four cases).

There are 16 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 100 patients are in institutional isolation; 1,088 are isolated at home and three persons are in institutional quarantine.

To date, 22,252 persons have recovered from the dreaded virus.

    An interesting side note….it is widely held in some circles that 115,000 dead persons voted PPP……is not anybody worried that the mounting death toll from this extremely dangerous COVID is going to build a brand new support base?????
