Jealous ex stabs ‘child mother’, others
A man who wanted to rekindle his relationship with the mother of his child reportedly went berserk and stabbed three persons on Sunday at Best Village on the West Coast of Demerara.
Injured are the mother of his child, Gaindwattie Ramdeo, 36; her mother, Mahadai Ramdeo, 58, and her cousin, identified only as Anil.
The suspect has been identified as Gaindwattie’s ex-husband, Dwayne Williams, who is a taxi driver. The News Room understands that the suspect was taken into custody but was later released on bail.
A video of the incident sent to the News Room by the family showed when the incident occurred and the couple’s six-year-old child running and praying on the ground immediately after.

Gaindwattie was stabbed under her arm, to her neck and hands; her mother was stabbed to her arms and breast after she intervened to save her daughter while the cousin Anil, who also intervened, was injured.
The mother, Mahadai explained to the News Room on Monday that after Williams pushed her daughter to the ground, the gardener picked up a spade and lashed him to the back. Williams managed to escape but was later arrested by police.
The gardener was also arrested and remains in custody. The family was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where they were treated for their injuries and discharged.
Mahadai further told the News Room that Williams earlier on Sunday picked up his daughter and then dropped her home. He later returned and asked to speak to Gaindwattie. Mahadai said she saw when Williams walked up to her daughter, pulled a knife from under his shirt and started to attack her.
According to Mahadai, Williams was drinking alcohol with friends and told them that they would never see him again.
