A 20-year-old Linden man who was fed up with being taunted and teased by a group of men is now in hiding after he disguised himself in a blue skirt and a gold wig and discharged several rounds at them during which one man was shot in his knee.

Police Headquarters reported that the 38-year-old injured man was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was treated and discharged following the incident at around 19:00hrs on Monday at Block 22 Wismar Linden.

Police investigations discovered that the suspect and another male have an ongoing issue which resulted in previous skirmishes. It is alleged that on Monday at around 16:00hrs, the 20-year-old was taunted by the said male and his friends as they walked through the area shouting his name and laughing at him.

At about 19:00hrs, the 38-year-old man was with his friends looking at a movie when the suspect, who was dressed in female attire – a long blue skirt, a grey jacket and a gold coloured wig – walked up to them, whipped out a small handgun from his waist and discharged three rounds in their direction during which the victim was shot to his right knee area.

The suspect then ran off but not before the male, who he always had issues with, was able to chase behind him and observed him pulling off his wig before making good his escape.

Acting on information received, ranks went to the suspect’s home and while approaching the said house, the suspect was seen running shirtless down into a dark gully area.

Investigations are ongoing.
