CPL 2021: Hetmyer appointed Guyana Amazon Warriors Vice-Captain

Guyanese batsman Shimron Hetmyer has been appointed Vice-Captain of the Guyana Amazon Warriors team for this year’s Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which gets underway on Thursday, August 26, at Warner Park, St. Kitts.

News Room Sport was informed by the Warriors’ management Wednesday afternoon that Hetmyer was appointed as deputy for Nicholas Pooran, who would have recently led West Indies to 4-1 series success over Australia in St. Lucia.

The 24-year-old has been with the Amazon Warriors since 2016 but has never officially held any leadership position.

The other members of Amazon Warriors’ think-tank are Lead Coach, Rayon Griffith; Strength and Conditioning Coach, Clinton Jeremiah; Trainer, Dr. Jason Pilgrim, and Team Operations Manager, Omar Khan.

The five-time finalist play in the tournament’s opening match against defending champions, Trinbago Knight Riders from 10:00h.
