    Four women have succumbed to the dreaded COVID-19 virus pushing Guyana’s death toll to 606 since March 2020.

    The Ministry of Health on Thursday reported that the patients were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms and died while receiving care at medical institutions.

    The latest deaths are a 69-year-old, a 78-year-old, and an 82-year-old – all of Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) along with a 56-year-old of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara).

    Meanwhile, another 151 individuals were infected taking Guyana’s total infections to 24,864 since March 2020. Those positive results came from 1,794 tests.

    These new infections were recorded in Region Two (six cases), Region Three (12 cases), Region Four (101 cases), Region Five (six cases), Region Six (20 cases), Region Nine (four cases) and Region 10 (two cases).

    There are 22 people in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 109 people are in institutional isolation, 1,510 people are in home isolation and six people are in institutional quarantine.

    In total, 22,617 people have recovered in total.
