An 81-year-old man of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) has been recorded as Guyana’s latest COVID-29 fatality, pushing the death toll to 610.
A total of 63 deaths have been recorded in August so far.
He succumbed on August 27 at a medical facility. Additionally, 180 new infections were recorded from 2,004 tests. This puts the country’s total confirmed cases at 25,147 since March 2020.
The new cases were recorded in Region Two (10 cases); Region Three (39 cases), Region Four (109 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (seven cases), Region Seven (six cases), Region Eight (two cases), Region Nine (one new case) and Region Ten (one case).
There are now 28 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 104 patients are in institutional isolation and 1,576 are in home isolation.
To date, 22, 829 persons have recovered from the virus.
