Berbice cop in stable condition after crashing into truck

A 41-year-old policeman of #72 Village, Corentyne Berbice is in stable condition at the Skeldon Public Hospital after he crashed into a truck owned by Massy Distribution on Tuesday on the Springlands Public Road in Corriverton Berbice

Injured is Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Shree Laljit. Police Headquarters revealed that the ASP was driving PYY 3137 with 32-year-old Vishwine Edwin, a member of the Community Policing Group, as a passenger.

It is alleged that the truck was proceeding north along the western side of the road while the cop was proceeding east out of the Springlands Police Station compound.

As the cop approached the public road, he claimed that his foot slipped off the brakes pedal and onto the accelerator causing the car to collide with the truck.

Notices of intended prosecution were served on both drivers and the driver of the truck remains in custody at the Springlands Police Station.
