Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of 36-year-old Camile Robertson Rodrigues who was found in a bloodied state with stab wounds at her Recht Door-Zee Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara house early Wednesday.
Her body was discovered at around 09:00hrs by her 12-year-old son, who also found the body of her husband, 42-year-old Rolin Rodrigues; police suspect he died by suicide.
Initial investigation by the police revealed that the woman went against her husband’s wishes to visit the interior for a friend’s party and upon her return home on Tuesday, she met him consuming alcohol.
“This morning, her 12-year-old son went to the premises and called out for her but got no answer. He then peeped through a window and saw his mother lying on the bed in blood and Rolin was seen hanging from the roof,” the police release revealed.
The child immediately alerted his uncle. An examination of the woman’s body revealed what appeared to be three stab wounds to various parts of her body; the suspected murder weapon was found a short distance away on top a drawer.
Police said the victims were caretakers of a property where the incident occurred; their bodies are at the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour awaiting an autopsy.
