Police are searching for a couple identified as Bibi and Dinesh Jageshar who allegedly injured a Police Constable attached to the Rose Hall Police Station on Wednesday.
Constable Travis Cort and another Constable visited the couple’s Williamsburg, Corentyne house after a man identified as Yujisteer Puran made a report that the couple allegedly abused him and threatened to kill him.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 19:49 hrs on Wednesday.
“Upon arrival at the home of Bibi and her husband Dinesh, they were both contacted, told of the allegations made against them and they quickly locked themselves into a bedroom, all the while cursing,” the police reported.
Subsequently, the officers called out to the couple to open the door when the wife quickly opened the bedroom door and threw a metal cup at Constable Cort. As a result, he was injured to the face.
Constable Cort was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
Police said efforts made to arrest the couple have proven futile.
