    Another four people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died in September according to the Ministry of Health.

    The latest fatalities are:

    1. A 90-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) who died on September 2
    2. A 79-year-old woman from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) who died on September 3
    3. A 66-year-old woman from Region Four who died on September 2
    4. A 67-year-old man from Region Three who died on September 2

    The Ministry, in a statement, said that these people died while receiving care at medical facilities. The latest fatalities take the total number of deaths to 636, with 11 of those deaths recorded during the first three days of September.

    Meanwhile, 161 new infections were recorded over the past 24 hours, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 26,112. These cases were recorded after 1,738 PCR COVID-19 tests were done.

    The new cases were reported in the following regions: Region One (six new cases), Region Two (28 cases), Region Three (24 cases), Region Four (90 cases), Region Five (four cases), Region Six (five cases), Region Seven (two cases) and Region Nine (two cases).

    There are now 33 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 118 are in institutional isolation, 1,892 are in home isolation and five are in institutional quarantine.

    Thus far, 23,433 patients have recovered from the virus.
