Six COVID deaths in one day; 101 new cases

Six persons – two women and four men – who were diagnosed with COVID-19 died on September 5 taking the death toll from the virus to 647.

The Ministry of Health reported that all the patients died while receiving medical care. The six additional deaths also mean that for September thus far 22 persons died in the first five days.

The following details on the persons who died were released by the ministry;

Meanwhile, 101 new infections were recorded in 24 hours from a total of 490 tests.

The new cases were reported in the following regions; Region Three (seven cases), Region Four (71 cases), Region Five (12 new cases), Region Six (four cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Eight (three cases) and Region Ten (three cases).

There are 38 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital; the ICU at the hospital can only accommodate 40 patients.

There are also 2, 219 patients in home isolation and 128 are in institutional isolation. To date, 23, 579 persons have recovered from the virus.
