Remmy Ramsammy, the owner of the Fix It Tyre Shop, West Coast Berbice, was killed in an accident Wednesday evening at No.8, also on the West Coast of Berbice.
A passenger who was in the car is battling for her life at the Fort Wellington Hospital; she is yet to be identified.
The News Room understands that Ramsammy operated the Fix It Tyre Shop located at lot 3 Armadale, West Coast Berbice.
Reports indicate that he was reportedly driving at a fast rate in a western direction when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a GPL utility pole on the opposite side of the road. The car subsequently spun out of control and came to an abrupt halt after smashing through a fence.
Persons living nearby rushed out to render assistance and transported both victims to the Fort Wellington Hospital where Ramsammy was pronounced dead while the female passenger was admitted with serious injuries about her head and body.
Investigations are in progress.
