COVID-19: Broadcaster Maxwell Thom was partially vaccinated, had high blood pressure


Well-known broadcaster Maxwell Thom, who died from COVID-19 on Tuesday, had taken the first dose of one of the COVID-19 vaccines being administered to adults locally.

Thom was the owner of the 93.1 Real FM radio station and Wireless Connections, a local cellphone and electronics store. It was reported that Thom was admitted to the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Ocean View facility at Liliendaal, Georgetown a few days ago.

According to information provided to the News Room, the man was partially vaccinated – that is, he received one of the two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The News Room was also informed that while in the hospital, he was hypertensive; that is, he was experiencing high blood pressure.  Thom celebrated his birthday on Monday, just a day before his passing.
