Six unvaccinated, one fully-vaxed among 9 COVID deaths

A 73-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica), who was fully vaccinated, is among the nine additional COVID-19 deaths recorded in September. This man died on Sunday.

In addition to this man, six other unvaccinated people and two partially vaccinated also died.

As such, 76 deaths have already been recorded this month while a total of 701 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded since March 2020.  Meanwhile, another 298 people were infected with the coronavirus over a 24 hour period, taking the total number of cases recorded since March 2020 to 28, 532.

These new infections were recorded in Region One (three new cases), Region Two (seven cases), Region Three (57 cases), Region Four (203 cases), Region Five (12 cases), Region Six (five cases), Region Seven (seven cases), Region Nine (three cases) and Region 10 (one case).

Additionally, there are 31 patients receiving critical care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 142 people are in institutional isolation, 3,000 are in home isolation and 19 people are in institutional quarantine.

Importantly, to date, 24,658 people who were infected with COVID-19 have recovered.
